The School of Rehabilitation Sciences & Technology (RS&T) offers programs in Assistive Technology and Accessible Design, Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Communication Sciences & Disorders, Occupational Therapy, Performance Psychology, Rehabilitation Science, and Therapeutic Recreation. The Department has a strong focus on Interprofessional education, research excellence and technology and resides in a diverse metropolitan setting.
Occupational Therapy, Science and Technology Programs (OTST)
The Occupational Therapy, Science and Technology Programs (OTST) are consistently ranked among the best in the nation. The mission of the OTST programs is to provide integrated learning individualized clinical experiences, and research opportunities to develop comprehensively prepared occupational therapists and scientists. We value innovation, curiosity, collaboration, integrity, total well-being, and evidence-based practice. The occupational therapy master’s program is the only public OT Program in the Greater Milwaukee area. Our urban location and deep community ties include partnerships with more than 300 clinical sites in Milwaukee and across the United States. OTST is known for its unique specialization in assistive technology. The accredited certificate graduate program in Assistive Technology and Accessible Design is one of three Accredited programs in the US.
Job Summary
This 12-month position will serve as core instructional faculty in the entry level MSOT and post-professional OTD degree programs which are part of the Occupational Therapy, Science and Technology Programs (OTST) and situated within the School of RS&T. The primary responsibilities of this position (75%) will be instructional. In addition, the successful candidate will also engage in curricular design, disciplinary research and scholarship, mentoring and advising students, and service to the program(s), department and/or profession for 25% of the position, making this position full-time at 100%.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently Wisconsin licensed Occupational Therapist or eligible for State of Wisconsin Occupational Therapy License.
  • MS in Occupational Therapy or a related field.
  • Prior direct clinical experience practicing Occupational Therapy (2 or more years of clinical experience).
  • Professional clinical experience in assessing and treating individuals with physical disabilities; or experience in pediatrics/assistive technology.
  • Experience working with students and clients from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral training in Occupational Therapy or a related field (e.g., OTD- post-professional preferred, PhD, EdD or equivalent, or doctoral degree in progress).
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in either practice or academia.
  • Prior instructional experience as a fieldwork educator and/or post-graduate academic educator.
  • Experience using online and distance education instructional methods.
  • Nontraditional academic background and/or immersive experience with diverse communities.
  • Desire to prepare students from nontraditional or diverse backgrounds to effectively work in diverse communities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Target Salary Range The minimum salary for this position is $72,000 based on 100% FTE. The final offer will be contingent upon the knowledge, skills, and abilities demonstrated throughout the selection process, as well as educational qualifications (MS or Doctoral).
