Job Description Summary:
This is a Family Medicine faculty position. This faculty member will provide individual, group and family counseling, primarily in the outpatient setting, and will teach students and residents the theory and practice of behavioral medicine in didactic and clinical settings. Will provide mentorship to students and residents. Will provide participant observation feedback to residents. Position may also provide psychological testing.
Job Description:

Teaches residents in family medicine and medical students the basic principles of behavioral science, the biopsychosocial model, family systems, and the provision of psychosocial care in both the didactic and clinical setting.
Provides individual, couples, family and group psychotherapy with patients and families at the family medicine clinic.
Provides joint supervisions (precepting) of family medicine residents and students in the family medicine ambulatory clinical setting.
Conducts live participant observation and evaluation of resident and student interaction with patients in the clinical setting.
Conducts and collaborates with other faculty and residents in the conduct of research and other scholarly endeavors especially in clinical family medicine, community-based practice, and educational curriculum development.
Provides consultation to family medicine physicians on psychological and behavioral science issues in both the outpatient clinic and inpatient setting.
Works collaboratively with other behavioral science faculty, and with the Residency Director, in enhancing the family medicine residency.
Reports to the Residency Director for issues regarding the Residency program, Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Department Chair
** Required Qualifications **
• Doctorate degree in Psychology. Degree should be from an APA-approved clinical program, or in Family Therapy.
• One year of experience in counseling, in outpatient settings, with mastery of an array of different counseling styles and therapeutic modalities, including basic family systems skills, and ability to counsel and conduct therapy with individuals, couples, families, and in groups.
• Demonstrated ability with teaching in both clinical and didactic settings.
• Familiarity and experience with the discipline of family medicine and the application of behavioral science principles, family systems, and the biopsychosocial model.
• Must be licensed to practice as an independent practitioner in their discipline in the State of Kansas.
