Department Summary
The UNT Department of Psychology has ~35 faculty members and over 3,000 undergraduate majors. There are three doctoral programs in the department: Counseling Psychology (APA-accredited), Clinical Psychology (APA-accredited), and Behavioral Science. Across the three programs, we have approximately 110 graduate students. We have established formal and informal mentoring networks and processes by which every faculty member can succeed, feel supported, and find community.
UNT is a Carnegie-designated Tier One research university that is in Denton, Texas, which is north of the Dallas/Fort Worth/Denton Metroplex, the most populous metropolitan area for both Texas and the South, and the fourth largest metropolitan area in the U.S. UNT Denton, as the flagship research campus of the UNT System, has nearly 47,000 students including more than 6,000 graduate students. Both undergraduate and graduate students participate on faculty research teams.

Position Summary
The Department of Psychology at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a full-time (9-month) Clinical Assistant Professor position, this will be for a one-term appointment. Our training programs include doctoral (Ph.D.) students in APA-accredited clinical psychology and counseling psychology programs. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to play an integral role in our accredited training programs by providing practicum supervision and/or teaching core classes at the graduate level.
The department also houses a clinic (Psychology Clinic) on the UNT campus which is one of the largest psychology training clinics in the country, offering high quality, low-cost services to a diverse clientele and providing intensive training in evidenced-based practice under the supervision of licensed faculty. The clinic is one of only a handful nationwide that is housed in a top tier (R1) university that also holds the distinction of being a minority serving institution (MSI). Students from both of our accredited programs begin clinical practicum internally within our psychology training clinic, before advancing to high quality external practicum sites across the DFW Metroplex, gaining experience with underserved areas or populations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in psychology from an APA accredited doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology (or foreign equivalent)
  • Licensed or license eligible (any state is acceptable)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Administrative work experience
  • Clinical experience
  • Evidence of competence in supervision
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to supervise students working with Spanish speaking clients and/or research participants
