Clinical Assistant Professor.- Part-Time Faculty

The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine Department of Restorative Dentistry / Comprehensive Care is accepting applications for a part-time faculty position in the appointment stream (non-tenure) assigned to the Center for Patients with Special Needs (CPSN). The primary responsibilities include a general dentistry practitioner who is also able to provide clinical instruction and supervision of dental students and dental hygiene students during treatment sessions for individuals with special healthcare needs. 

Applicants must have a DDS or DMD degree from an ADA-accredited school, and be eligible for a Pennsylvania dental license. Preference will be given to those with a certificate from a General Practice Residency or an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program, or three to five years of clinical experience. Application reviews will continue until the position is filled. The academic rank will be at the academic rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, in the appointment stream, and the salary will depend on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
 
The Center for Patients with Special Needs was formally dedicated in the fall of 2008 and enables the provision of care for adult/young patients with a variety of disabilities. The patients treated in the CPSN have varying degrees of disabilities: developmental, physical, behavioral, psychological and/or medical complexity. Treatment modalities are individualized for the patients that present to the CPSN and often treatment is provided via a close working relationship with members of the Department of Dental Anesthesiology. The primary goals of the CPSN center around providing a dental home for patients with special healthcare needs while simultaneously educating dental and dental hygiene students of Pitt Dental Medicine. This part-time appointment will involve direct supervision of dental and dental hygiene students during hands-on treatment sessions in the CPSN.
