Position Summary
The Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW) invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Field Instruction and Coordination (“Field Coordinator”) for the BSW and MSW Program. This is a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment. Anticipated start date is May 1, 2024. Candidates will be required to work on the IU Indianapolis campus.
The Field Coordinator has primary responsibility for recruiting, developing, and assessing field placement agencies in locations (both in- and out-of-state) where students are engaged in the program. Field Coordinators act as advisors throughout the student placement process and as ongoing consultants to faculty liaisons, field instructors, and agency directors. In addition to coordination of all field education experiences, the Field Coordinator has instructional responsibilities for teaching 1 course or the equivalency in faculty field liaison responsibility each academic year.
The Field Coordinator reports to the Director of Field Education in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Practicum Education, Director of the IUI MSW Program, Director of IUI BSW Program, and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs to assure compliance with all processes and procedures of the IUSSW and comparability of all curricular offerings.
The Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW) is a university-wide system school with an MSW Program accredited by the Council on Social Work Educations since 1923 and a BSW Program accredited since 1975. The IUSSW is headquartered at Indiana University- Indianapolis (IUI) and uniquely houses a Department of Labor Studies. The School has programs on campuses across the state of Indiana including Indianapolis, Bloomington, Richmond, Gary, New Albany, Fort Wayne, and South Bend. As the primary provider of Indiana’s social work workforce, the School enrolls approximately 1,600 students across programs (PhD, MSW, BSW) and campuses. Basic Qualifications
Essential qualifications: Candidates are required to have a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program plus a minimum of two years post-MSW full-time practice experience. Additional requirements include experience supervising social work students as a field instructor, a sound familiarity with program evaluation, excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills, and strong organizational, managerial, and problem-solving skills. Previous experience with Sonia online field management program is preferred.
