Primary Purpose of Department
The Department of Business Information Systems and Operations Management (BISOM) offers undergraduate majors in Business Analytics (BA), Management Information Systems (MIS) and Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSCM) and minors in MIS and OSCM. The BISOM faculty also teach courses for the M.B.A. concentrations in business analytics, information and technology management, and supply chain management and for the interdisciplinary Masters in Data Science and Business Analytics. In addition, they serve as dissertation advisors or dissertation committee members for students in the inter-disciplinary Ph.D. in Computing and Information Systems – BISOM Track and the Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA).

Teaching – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Business Information Systems and Operations Management (BISOM), one of six departments in the Belk College of Business at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, invites applications for a full-time position as a Clinical Assistant Professor, beginning in the Fall 2024 semester.
The teaching load is an equivalent of four Operations and Supply Chain Management courses per semester and will include courses in the undergraduate and graduate courses within the Belk College of Business, as well as in the interdisciplinary Data Science and Business Analytics program. In addition to teaching, the candidate will be expected to engage in research and professional activities appropriate for the rank and to the extent required to meet the College’s Faculty Qualification Standards for Clinical faculty. The candidate will also be expected to engage in appropriate service activities in the Department, the College and the University.
Minimum Experience/Education

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
To be initially appointed to a position as a Clinical Assistant Professor, a candidate is expected to possess a doctoral degree in Operations Management or a closely related field. Candidates with a Masters degree in Operations Management or a closely related field and with exceptional academic or professional qualifications may be considered for a Lecturer position. The candidate must also present evidence of success in business, professional or academic practice, potential for or evidence of past teaching effectiveness, and potential for a successful academic career. The candidate must meet the professional and/or academic qualifications standards as defined in the Belk College Policy on Academic & Professional Qualifications.

Thiss is a non-tenure track position with an initial three-year contract. The salary is competitive. Subsequent contracts will depend on performance, departmental needs, and the College’s budgetary situation.
