The Natural Sciences department is seeking a non-tenure track faculty position in Nursing with a start date of Fall 2024. Depending on the applicant's qualifications, the position can be at the Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor level. The successful applicant will be able and willing to able to lecture across the curriculum based on the needs of the RN-BSN program in the following program specialties: Community Health, Leadership, Research, Informatics, Care of the Older adult, Health Assessment, Trends and issues, Professional Practice, Professional Practicum (Clinical).

Job Duties

  • Works with other faculty to maintain and improve instructional quality and student success through regular meetings and professional development
  • Participates in the assessment of BSN courses and contributes artifacts as requested
  • Contributes to the department's overall instructional mission through participation in various activities concerned with the curriculum and programmatic improvement
  • Performs university, professional, and community service appropriate to the position as assigned

These duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Follows accreditation/approval regulations and standards
  • Participates in the recruitment of students and marketing of the program
  • Represents the program in appropriate university committees and community organizations
  • Works collaboratively with all units in the university, engaging student recruitment, retention, and success to ensure each admitted student has the best opportunity for success at UHD
  • Assists with colleagues at local community colleges to establish seamless transfer programs, and work with local hospitals and government agencies to establish capstone experiences for students
  • Mentors students and student groups as needed by the program

Qualifications

 

Required Education:

  • Current unencumbered Texas license to practice professional nursing (RN) with clinical practice experience
  • Doctoral Degree or equivalent (Nursing)
  • Excellent clinical and communication skills

Required Experience:

  • Experience teaching as a Registered Nurse, course development

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with curriculum development and/or designing graduate nursing programs
  • Experience overseeing student projects at the undergraduate and graduate levels
