Scope of Job
We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s diverse student body as an Clinical Assistant Professor (Clinical Psychologist) of Psychological Science to join the psychology training clinic of the doctoral training program.
The position is for an entry-level bilingual English/Spanish clinical psychologist with a range of responsibilities: (1) to provide psychological services including evaluations and counseling to individuals across the lifespan 2) to provide direct clinical supervision of student trainees and post-doctoral fellows and conduct individual and group supervision, (3) to provide clinical teaching with practicum students and conduct didactic training and case conferences in the clinic, and 4) to assist the clinical director with clinic operations including trainings, meeting, community outreach, as well as to coordinate research and clinical training opportunities. Minimum Qualifications
1) A Ph.D. in clinical psychology from an APA accredited program. 2) Evidence of potential to supervise and mentor clinical activities of students.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Licensure as a Texas Psychologist
Preferred Qualifications
Licensure as a Texas Psychologist must be obtained by time of appointment. Language skills in English and Spanish. Experience supervising graduate level students in clinical placements and some clinical research experience.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
