The School of Education & Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver is seeking nominations and applications for an Assistant Professor, Clinical Teaching Track position in the Couple and Family Therapy program, beginning August 15, 2022.

The School of Education & Human Development (SEHD) is a leading school of education, providing national expertise on educational issues and socially-just solutions for urban and diverse communities. The SEHD has taken a leadership role in preparing professionals to work in diverse schools, agencies and related settings. The SEHD emphasizes working with multiple types of collaborative partnerships including PK-12 schools, local communities, businesses, government agencies, private foundations, and other universities and colleges. Major Responsibilities:

Faculty in the clinical teaching track engage in teaching, service and research/scholarship with a negotiable assignment of 80% teaching, 10% to 15% service and 5% to 10% research/scholarship. Primary teaching responsibilities for faculty in the clinical teaching track are focused on collaboratively building and/or maintaining programs within the SEHD that provide quality service regarding local, state, national, and international needs in alignment with the mission and strategic plan of the SEHD. Service responsibilities include service to the program to which they are assigned and to the School with other responsibilities as negotiated, and include participating in faculty meetings and providing committee service in the School of Education and Human Development. Research/scholarship responsibilities offer an opportunity to collaborate on or initiate programmatic inquiry and scholarship in alignment with SEHD mission and vision. The successful candidate for this position will:

  • Teach graduate courses in the MA in Couple and Family Therapy program.
  • Provide live and virtual clinical supervision in our in-house practicum clinic and internship classes.
  • Promote the expansion of the program's inclusion of and connection with members of Denver's diverse communities.

Employment Conditions: 
This is a full-time 9-month academic year, non-tenure-track position. Opportunity for summer teaching is available. Faculty members in the clinical teaching track participate in the faculty governance process as defined by the SEHD and Faculty Senate, receive university faculty benefits except for sabbaticals, and undergo annual merit reviews of their performance. They are not eligible for tenure.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position has been established at $70,000 to $75,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A doctoral degree in Couple/Marriage and Family Therapy or related field
  • Demonstrated success or potential success for graduate-level teaching and advising
  • Experience and/or willingness to teach in a variety of formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • A doctoral degree from a COAMFTE approved program
  • Status as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor
  • Hold an active Marriage and Family Therapy license in the state of Colorado or obtain a Colorado MFT license within the first year of employment
  • Clear evidence that race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation, and/or other social justice issues are addressed in syllabi, teaching, and supervision
  • Clinical and/or teaching experience in trauma and/or addiction in family systems
  • Telehealth and virtual supervision experience
  • Familiarity with Titanium
