Organizational Unit Overview
It is the mission of the Department of Pediatrics, East Carolina University, Brody School of Medicine, to provide exemplary medical education/training of physicians in pediatric medicine at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, it is the mission of the department to provide model comprehensive primary and consultative subspecialty care to children of eastern North Carolina, to advance scientific knowledge through basic and clinical research, and to provide continuing medical education opportunities for physicians in the region.
Job Duties
The Department of Pediatrics at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC is seeking an academic general pediatrician/hospitalist to join the faculty of the Division of General Pediatrics as a Pediatric Hospitalist.
The academic general pediatrician/hospitalist is responsible for providing inpatient services to infants, children, and adolescents on the Pediatric Ward at the Maynard Children’s Hospital at ECU Health Medical Center. The academic general pediatrician/hospitalist is also expected to provide excellent medical education (teaching) to medical students, residents, and other learners.
Opportunity is available for either clinical track or tenure track at the rank/title of Assistant Professor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Professor, and/or Clinical Professor.
Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS). Minimum Education/Experience
Must have a terminal degree (MD or DO) degree from an appropriated accredited institution.
Must be board certified/eligible in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in North Carolina.
The minimum education/experience is the same for both clinical and tenure tracks.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
North Carolina Medical License, Board Certified or Board eligible to sit for the ABP general pediatrics examination.
