Position Details:

The Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences in the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine at Washington State University (WSU) invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor. This is a temporary, career-track; 12-month appointment. The position is located at the WSU Health Sciences campus in Spokane, WA.

Summary of Duties:

Primary responsibilities include: (1) clinical supervision of students serving the adult neurogenic population, (2) teaching graduate or undergraduate course/s in adult neurogenic communication disorders which may include aphasia, dysphagia, motor speech disorders, right hemisphere damage, or voice disorders, treating adult neurogenic clients, (3) directing or serving on master’s final project committees, (4) service to the department, university, and discipline.   

The position will have a start date of August 16, 2023.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned M.S., M.A., or PhD in speech-language pathology or closely related field prior to hire date of August 16, 2023.
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise and ability to teach in voice, dysphagia, and adult neurogenic disorders.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and eligible for Washington State license.
  • Documented ability to teach, and a history of positive interaction with and mentoring of students from diverse backgrounds.

Annual Salary: $79,000-97,000 commensurate with qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end on 06/30/2025. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
