Responsibilities*
  • Assists in the planning, design, development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of electronical clinical information system(s), laboratory and hospital information systems, picture archive and communication system.
  • Participates in all activities with interrelated teams including project management, application testing, application support, end user and technical training, technical reviews, and interfaces teams
  • Maintains continuity of data between interfaced systems
  • Manages and prioritizes requests for customer support
  • Performs analysis of department and end user business needs, documentation of requirements, and translates business and regulatory requirements into system specifications and configurations
  • Collaborates with care providers to ensure enterprise, organization and project goals are met
  • Participates in implementation of changes for business needs
  • Prepares and maintains documentation in compliance with project and regulatory standards
  • Participates in off hour on call rotation on a rotating schedule
  • Participates in application maintenance and upgrades

Required Qualifications*

In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant allied health discipline
  • 3-5 years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in application support
  • Experience with clinical laboratory workflow

Desired Qualifications*
  • Knowledge and experience with anatomic and/or genetics laboratory workflow
  • Knowledge and experience in supporting the configuration SCC Soft Computer System, Epic EMR systems, or PACS Imaging application
  • Experience working in the reference laboratory information technology environment
  • Experience in supporting large clinical laboratory information systems
  • Familiarity with Structured Query Language and writing database queries
  • Experience supporting interfaces at a healthcare facility with understanding of HL7 messaging protocol
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with project management and managing complex workflows and software changes

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
