Position purpose:
 
The Client Development Lead contributes to the strategic growth and success of Executive Education at Belmont University.  The purpose of this position is to build and maintain a successful business development strategy that includes identifying and developing new client relationships and maintaining existing relationships in the business community.  This role will be responsible for developing new custom executive education program leads and building relationships with organizations for the purpose of increasing open enrollment program pipelines to achieve revenue goals.
Essential Functions: 
1. Co-create and manage Belmont Executive Education’s local and regional business development/sales strategy that attracts new clients, expands business with existing clients to achieve revenue goals.
2. Build new relationships in business community, building interest in both custom program options and open enrollment offerings.  When appropriate, conduct client needs analysis and assist with developing proposals to present to new potential clients.  Must be able to establish effective relationships and maintain frequent communication with key leaders and decision makers at target corporations.
3. Partner with Executive Director to determine sales strategies for individual accounts and target industry clusters with the primary objective of cultivating new client relationships and leading successful program proposal processes.
4. Manage lead qualification and nurture leads with consistent, proactive follow-up.  Establish continuous contact points with executives and companies to accomplish goal of attendance or repeat business. Actively upsell, cross-sell and group-sell programs to prospects while offering best possible solution to meet their needs.
5. Participate in meetings and discussions on projects and decisions that impact Executive Education, including contributing ideas for program development of open enrollment programs based upon understanding and knowledge of market needs. Track executive education market and competitor trends. Assist with the planning and development of sales campaigns for open enrollment programs and talent development consulting services.
6. Consult on an ongoing basis with potential clients on their talent and leadership development challenges to understand prospect and client needs and articulate possible custom program or open enrollment solutions.
7. Actively use Salesforce as platform for all information and data associated with sales opportunities, contacts and knowledge-sharing throughout the Executive Education team.  Deliver on agreed-to annual new client development targets and revenue goals.

  • Minimum 7-9 years, preferred 10-15 experience in executive education, business development, corporate consulting, or talent development.  
  • Bachelor's degree in business, education, organizational development, communication required.  Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven capabilities as an effective communicator, in presenting both oral and written proposals and reports.  Comfort in proactive communication with new contacts.  Ability to professionally and appropriately represent organization when communicating to clients.
  • Ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders using project management processes with documentation and tracking.
  • Ability to draft agreements, and identify needs and interests of stakeholders.
  • Comfortable communicating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to set and achieve deadlines.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be flexible and capable of working with a variety of personalities and differing work styles in a close work environment.
  • Strong service-orientations and commitment to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills.
  • Attention to detail, enjoys detail, commitment to error-free work.
  • CRM and LMS experience preferred.
   
Required Education Bachelor's degree required, field of study business, education, organizational development. Master's degree preferred.
  
Required Experience Minimum 7-9 years of experience in executive education, business development, corporate consulting, or talent development required. 10-15 years preferred.
