Job Summary

Research on and implementation of methods for climate modeling.

Essential Job Duties

  • Implement a modern microphysics scheme that is able to represent ice- and snow-related processes in the CliMA Earth System Model.
  • Re-derive the microphysics scheme equations and summarize the main concepts in the documentation.
  • Test the implemented scheme against previously published results and include the tests in the continuous integration pipeline.
  • Participate in microphysics group meetings and discuss your work there.

Basic Qualifications

  • B.S. in applied mathematics, computer science or a related field.
  • Programming experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience programming in Julia.
  • Research experience in the physical sciences or engineering.
  • Experience working in larger software projects.
