The Civil Rights Intake Coordinator in the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) facilitates a centralized intake function for all reports of protected class harassment and discrimination, including sexual misconduct, involving faculty, staff, students, and other members of the university community. The incumbent(s) will be responsible for the processing of reports received by OIE; analyzing significant incidents for urgent follow up; providing information to involved parties regarding reporting options and supportive measures; communicating with parties, witnesses, third-party reporters and other impacted individuals regarding campus and community resources; maintaining an extensive knowledge of on and off campus resources applicable to protected class based harassment and discrimination; informing individuals of options for participating in university processes, including investigations and alternative resolutions, and reporting crime to law enforcement; fulfilling mandatory reporting requirements to law enforcement and other appropriate agencies; and effectuating timely and thorough case management of reports in compliance with federal and state laws, and university policies and procedures. The Civil Rights Intake team works collaboratively with campus partners, including but not limited to: Student Life Student Conduct, Employee Assistance Program, Student Life Counseling and Consultation Services, Office of Human Resources, Department of Public Safety, Office of Legal Affairs, Athletics, and academic departments in the Office of Academic Affairs. A critical feature of this role involves collaborating with on and off campus partners to implement reasonable and appropriate supportive measures for parties. Successful candidates are detail-oriented critical thinkers who must operate independently, treat individuals with compassion, care, and empathy, and demonstrate unwavering professionalism in all communications and interactions with students, faculty, staff, and third parties. Candidates should possess sound judgment and remain impartial throughout all aspects of interaction with parties, witnesses, and the university community. The work schedule for the Civil Rights Intake Coordinator positions may include weekend hours. Civil Rights Intake Coordinator positions are within a tiered structure that allows the opportunity for growth and potential advancement.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

2 years of relevant experience required.

Education and Experience

Required: Knowledge of laws and regulations that pertain to students, faculty and university staff, including Title IX, Clery Act, Title VI, Title VII, Section 504, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other civil rights laws; demonstrated success in completing complex tasks independently; skilled at effectively cultivating relationships and collaborating with colleagues; ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information; expertise in providing support for individuals in distress and connecting them with appropriate resources; strong analytical skills and the ability to assess and negotiate multifaceted, highly sensitive situations; ability to maintain neutrality and work under stress; demonstrated success in working with diverse constituencies; strong and effective interpersonal skills including the ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs; exceptional organizational and prioritization skills; expertise in presenting ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to appropriately manage difficult and sensitive issues with compassion and cultural competence; prior experience performing data or record verification duties

Desired: Ability to effectively communicate verbally and/or in writing in Spanish or Mandarin; Master's degree in social work, student affairs, counseling, higher education, public health, law or related field; two or more years of experience working in the areas of civil rights compliance, student conduct, human resources, or a similar field; experience with trauma-informed support services; supporting individuals who have experienced sexual violence or civil rights issues, conducting investigations, or crafting alternative resolutions; advancing compliance with government regulations that pertain to students, faculty and university staff, including Title IX, Clery Act, Title VI, Title VII, Section 504, ADA, and other civil rights laws and regulations.
