Description of Work Unit | Colorado State University’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is seeking a full-time undergraduate advisor. Civil and Environmental Engineering comprises approximately 35 faculty, 600 undergraduate students and 200 graduate students. The undergraduate advisor position reports directly to the department head, but for the first 6-12 months in the position, daily direction and training will be provided by another departmental professional academic advisor. The advising staff will work closely together with the department head to support the undergraduate student population through advising and a variety of programs designed to assist students in developing academic plans, making critical transitions, and connecting with campus resources. Position Summary | The selected individual will work closely with undergraduate students in advising/recommending academic requirements, scheduling of classes, and developing plans for academic success. The Academic Advisor will also communicate with the office of Registrar in evaluating transfer/graduating student’s credentials. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with the teaching/class scheduling, and textbook ordering for the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, serving on department, college and university committees as needed, assisting with university and college events such as Ram Welcome, Commencement, Ram Orientation, and Engineering recruitment events, and processing documents related to graduation, overrides, exceptions, appeals, study abroad, military, athletics, and other advising related issues while in accordance with Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines. This position requires partial in-person/in-office work each week with one or two days remote per week. |
