The Department of Chemical Engineering (CHEG) is seeking a part-time Research Assistant for the Gounaris research lab. In this role, the ideal candidate will provide research support to explore the use of math-heuristic techniques to optimize production schedules of multi-product, multi-purpose batch plants.

Core responsibilities will include:

  • Follows research plans in order to collect, record, and manipulate research data. Maintains accurate and detailed research records and files.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • May test software prototypes. May interact with research subjects in order to perform job functions.
  • Performs basic data analysis in order to product reports. Documents results and processes.
  • Performs library research and field explorations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience in Chemical Engineering or related field;
  • Interdisciplinary strength in Process Systems Engineering;
  • A strong research record including academic experience;
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills;
  • Highly motivated and creative, enjoys working in a collaborative research environment.

This is a fixed-term position of up to 6 months and is inclusive of competitive salary and part-time benefits. The start date is flexible, but February 2021 is desired. Applications will be considered until the position is filled. Please upload your detailed CV and cover letter.
