Position Summary Information


General Information
The College of Integrated Science and Engineering (CISE) seeks a talented self-starter to write compelling feature stories, student/faculty/alumni profiles, and press releases to promote CISE programs, experiences, and events.
Approximately 7-10 hours per week with flexible scheduling. Some evenings/weekends will be required to cover events.
This employment opportunity may be compatible with the internship expectations of the JMU WRTC major.
This is an excellent opportunity for a student to gain valuable experience in writing and content creation and gain hands-on experience while in school. The position offers flexible hours, a chance to work on exciting projects, and the opportunity to build a professional portfolio. In addition, many stories will be featured on the JMU website, social media, and CISE magazine.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Write original, compelling content for digital and print publications including feature stories, press releases, spotlights, and marketing materials
· Research and gather information on assigned topics to ensure accuracy and relevance
· Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and readability
· Collaborate with others to develop content ideas and strategies
· Meet deadlines and consistently produce high-quality content 
· Stay up to date on best practices in writing and content creation

Conditions of Employment

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
