Position Description:

The Molecular Pathology Section (MPS), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), is seeking postdoctoral candidates with training/expertise in molecular biology, murine models, protein structural biology and cancer research.  In addition, practical research experiences with applications of high throughput genome-wide sequencing techniques to cell lines and transgenic mice are highly desirable.

We are looking for a motivated, talented, and dedicated scientist to join our research team. The fellow recruited for the position will work on chromatin biology projects related to two paralogous chromatin-binding factors: CTCF and BORIS, and their roles in normal biology and cancer.  The fellow recruited for the position will have opportunities to learn and practice multiple next-generation techniques for the research projects.  NIH offers competitive salary and comprehensive health insurance. 


Qualifications:

The qualified candidate should have received a PhD degree in one of the relevant fields or be currently pursuing one of the degrees with completion by the appointment start date (flexible) starting at the beginning of 2022 year. Degree must have been received within the past five years. Appointment is renewable up to 5+ years based on performance. 

Preferred skills:

  • Most common methods in molecular cell chromatin and structural biology
  • Applications of current bioinformatic algorithms in NG-Seq analyses
  • Experience with basic bench techniques, including delivery vectors for CRISPR-assisted targeting and selectable protein expression
  • Tissue culture skills including primary normal mouse and human cells
  • Knowledge of such advanced Next-Gen Sequencing methods as ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, MNase-seq, etc.
