Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repair to Utility Plant water chillers of up to 2,000 tons and associated equipment to include cooling towers, pumps, air compressors, and water filtering systems to provide a high level of availability and energy efficiency.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Utilizes schematics for troubleshooting and root cause analysis on chiller plant equipment (chillers, pumps, fans).
  • Performs advanced repairs, overhaul, disassembly, reassembly, and modification to Utility Plant water chillers, pumps, and fans.
  • Troubleshoots and provides input on control sequence for operation of chillers and associated equipment. Reads and interprets blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Works in a safe manner and keeps up with OSHA standards and all other applicable federal regulations.
  • Completes preventative maintenance orders, work orders, and documents work performed.
  • Communicates orally and written with department personnel and management for the purpose of receiving and advising on matters concerning chiller plant operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Schedules repairs and maintenance; supervises, inspects, and provides training to Chiller Mechanic I and other technicians assigned to chiller work. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Graduation from an accredited HVAC technical school or equivalent experience. Universal refrigerant certification.
  • Two years of experience working on chillers sized 500 tons and up including cooling towers and associated equipment is required. A working knowledge of related application software.
  • Familiarity with Excel, Word, Asset Works (AiM work management software) and Buildings Control Systems (Seimens, ALC, Delta). OEM (Trane,York,Carrier) Maintenance Overhaul course completion.
  • May require a valid Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record. Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, and twist.
  • Work environment involves indoors, outdoors extreme weather conditions and high noise areas.

NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
