Summary of Job Duties:

The Child Care Connections Director will report directly to the Director of Academic Affairs Retention Office and will direct the Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) grant to support the retention of undergraduate and graduate students at UA Little Rock. The Director will manage the program that provides childcare services by partnering with established, off-site providers. The Director will administer all aspects of the program and coordinate with other personnel and units whose participation is necessary for the success of the program. This position is grant-funded until 9/30/2025 and will be expected to reapply for the grant. The program's success will be measured by the postsecondary persistence and degree completion rates of program participants who remain at UA Little Rock. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Services, or related field;

  • Five (5) years of related experience.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Services, or related field;

  • Three (3) years of related experience;

  • Experience in a higher education setting;

  • Experience in program planning and evaluation;

  • Experience with grant writing, administration, and reporting.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Experience in providing effective, student-friendly customer service;

  • Demonstrate knowledge and the skills to communicate effectively, in various modalities, to a broad range of audiences about the many dimensions of childcare;

  • The ability to work with state, county, and local childcare agencies and develop strategic and beneficial relationships;

  • The ability to coordinate with existing campus services, including the Advising and Support Centers, Health Services, Student Affairs, etc. to ensure students are aware of and are utilizing available services and programming;

  • Experience in mastering details and engineering business processes that are effective and efficient for students to participate in the program;

  • The ability to keep accurate records and utilize data;

  • The ability to administer budgets with the technical assistance of support personnel;

  • The ability to conduct assessments and write reports as required for the grant;

  • Supervise and mentor a graduate assistant;

  • Develop and maintain relationships within the community to facilitate low cost or free support services for students with children;

  • Determine areas of need and develop and implement student workshops, and related activities designed to address childcare needs;

  • Participate in on and off-campus events that support the university;

  • Research, develop and submit grant proposals to enhance childcare services;

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of childhood development theory and strategies;

  • Knowledge of educational theories and practice;

  • Knowledge of trends, issues, and accepted practices relevant to the position;

Skills:

  • Self-motivated, problem-solving, proactive attitude, and highly dependable;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral/written/electronic) skills;

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

  • Computer and software proficiency (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, ARGOS, BANNER, WorkDay, and other management systems);

Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment;

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team;

  • Ability to balance multiple projects and student caseload;

  • Ability to develop, interpret and suggest policy/procedures;

  • Ability to conduct research and compile data into report form;
