Job Summary:
The
Chief Scientist is a leader in developing and executing strategic growth
initiatives such as graphene-containing products, clean energy technology
demonstrations, and sustainable plastics and materials. The successful candidate will gain and execute
MPI projects, work alongside project managers, and will be a scientific
resource in aims to grow MPI’s project base and foster technically oriented
business growth in Mississippi. This
position requires excellent internal and external communication abilities,
customer service orientation, problem-solving, a broad and deep understanding
of scientific methodologies, strong project management skills, and the ability
to quickly get up to speed in new technologies.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in a scientific discipline from an accredited college or university. Proven track record of at least 8 years of experience in scientific program management or related roles within chemical, biological, or polymer industries. Startup and/or entrepreneur experience. Work experience in a chemical corporation. Current motor vehicle Driver’s License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Strong understanding of scientific and commercial methodologies and data analysis.
- Adept at product development.
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate internal and external teams and clients.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities at one time.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite type products.
- Ability to travel and make overnight stays.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Demonstrated successful grant writing experience. Published
articles in research and trade journals. Experience with federal and/or state
government organizations. Economic development experience. Experience with
military organizations and projects. Experience with medical and/or biological
product development.
