Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3 years of related work experience within collegiate or professional football setting. Work experience may include graduate assistantship, coaching experience in high school, or any role with professional or NFL organization. Ability to work nights and weekends. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, including written and verbal. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Grade EX

Preferred Qualifications
  • Division I FBS Football experience and/or applicable NFL experience

Position Description

The Chief of Staff - Football position will provide high-level executive support, coordinate actions and proactively initiate, execute and implement communications and special projects on behalf of the Head Football Coach in support of the University of Louisville Football program goals. Serve as a liaison between Head Football Coach and Football staff. Coordinate all visits, speaking engagements and clinics for the Football staff; and assist with evaluation and recruitment of prospective student athletes. This position will report directly to the Head Football Coach.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Promotes an atmosphere of compliance within the program through strict adherence to NCAA, ACC, and university rules and regularions through monitoring of program activities, active involvement and commitment to continuous rules education, timely submission of compliance-related documents, and immediate reporting of any knowledge of potential rules violation involving self or others.

  • Provides high-level executive support to the Head Football Coach and assists in managing the day-to-day functions of the Football Program. Oversees inbound communications, executive special projects, drives and accelerates the work of the Head Football Coach, interacts with senior leadership and external coaches and strengthens critical relationships with student-athletes.

  • Supervises and evaluates the job performance of direct reports within Football

  • Serves as a liaison for the Head Football Coach, to provide efficient, discrete and effective customer service to a wide constituency; including but not limited to, Senior level administration, student-athletes, Academics, Compliance, Training Room, Strength and Conditioning, Equipment Room, Recruiting, and other support staff.

  • Partners primarily with the director of football operations and other key stakeholders on the internal management of the Football Program and initiatives, as well as other urgent issues to include the assignment of substantive responsibilities and tasks, while assisting in executing key assignments and enforcing deadlines.

  • Takes initiative in triaging incoming concerns and requests and effectively and immediately forwards them to the proper individual for action, tracks and influences positive outcomes

  • Assists the Head Football Coach in responding to requests in tandem with the Director of Football Operations.

  • Holds consistent (weekly or bi-weekly) meetings among all consituencies to ensure that all units are working as efficiently and effectively as possible and at a elite level.

  • Serves as the main point of contact for the Head Coach in all recruiting decisions with the Director of Football Operations managing all communications.  

  • Assists in providing a championship experience for the student-athletes.

  • Serves as liaison between Head Football Coach and Football coaching staff in tandem with the Director of Football Operations.

  • Serves as a liaison between Football Program and high school coaches.

  • Implements and facilitates the Freshmen/1st year player transition program with the Director of Player Development.

  • Determines key performance indicators and how to measure the overall team performance and support staff efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Provides coaches with recommendations and consultation to improve team work.

  • Assists all coaches in the evaluation and recruiting of prospective student athletes.

  • Observes position, unit and team meetings and provides feedback to coaches such as positive and negative feedback about pedagogy, content and classroom management.

  • Assists with creating practice plans by helping to adjust, monitor and evaluate their effectiveness throughout the spring and fall seasons.

  • Attends meetings; serves on committees.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
