Pitt-Johnstown seeks a student-centered leader with a commitment to student development to lead the Pitt-Johnstown Campus Police department. The Pitt-Johnstown Campus Police department serves university students, faculty, staff, and visitors by providing safe and secure environment for living and learning. We continuously strive to build and cultivate relationships, foster ongoing education, and provide a visible and welcoming presence for our community. The Chief of Police is responsible for the safety and security of the University’s community and facilities, the enforcement of all laws and related campus regulations, oversight of UPJ’s emergency management plans and activities, management of all University traffic and parking programs, and the provision of other related campus services. The Police Chief must be committed to providing excellent customer service and community policing. Dedication to campus interaction and participation, employee involvement and development, and unquestionable personal and professional ethics are essential. The Chief will support student well-being and development efforts through up close and personal student services to prepare our student to be ready for the real world. The Chief of Police reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs and works closely with UPJ staff, students, faculty, administration and the local community to direct and administer the overall policing and public safety initiatives, as well as promote a safe and secure environment across the University. The person in this position provides leadership, management and direct oversight to university police, parking services, threat management, emergency management, campus shuttle and dispatch services. The Chief of Police directs and oversees the operations and strategic planning of all police functions pertaining to police services, student outreach programs and security and law enforcement programs.

 

PA Act 120 Certification (or equivalent) is required.
