Position Description | Reporting to the Executive Director and Associate Provost for Campus Health and Wellbeing, the Chief Medical Officer/Physician in Chief will be a key member of the Harvard University Health Services’ senior leadership team. In collaboration with senior leaders of the organization, the CMO/PiC leads and participates in strategic projects and initiatives to achieve goals and objectives in the management of the delivery system, and engages in problem solving, and long-range planning. The CMO/PiC is responsible for the delivery of high standard, cost effective medical care in a manner that incorporates values of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Responsibilities include planning and directing the functioning of Internal Medicine, Urgent Care, Faculty and Staff Behavioral Health, Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety, Credentialing, Care Coordination, Physical Therapy, and all other Medical and Surgical Specialties. The CMO/PiC supervises 14 individual direct reports and is responsible for the performance of a staff of approximately 46 FTE/60 individuals. The CMO/PiC fulfills a 20% practice effort while devoting approximately 80% effort to clinical, administrative, and strategic leadership.
