Essential Job Duties
The Undergraduate Program Coordinator (UPC) manages all the activities of the Undergraduate Program office for the Department of Chemistry. In this role you will serve as a resource for the Co-Directors of the Undergraduate Programs (Co-DUPs), undergraduate students (Chemistry majors and non-majors) students, parents, faculty and staff, addressing inquiries on program policies and procedures. Additionally you will be the department’s liaison with various university offices, manage a small staff of temporary employees, and coordinate graduation ceremonies and awards for seniors. The Chemistry UPC will serve as a member of the Chemistry Communications committee, which is responsible for the overall direction and activities of all digital media related to the department’s web presence, Website, and social media with particular emphasis on the undergraduate portion of the departmental webpages.
A few other key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Conducting data analysis for course offerings, enrollment, and graduation statistics.
  • Compiling program data for accreditation and annual reports.
  • Handling scheduling of classes and rooms, including submissions for classroom assignments.
  • Assisting with transcript reviews and resolving administrative discrepancies.
  • Supporting faculty and staff with scheduling and administrative tasks.
  • Creating, maintaining, and updating the Chemistry Alumni database
  • Providing support for off-campus outreach events, including faculty visits to schools and industry businesses.
  • Provide support for various on-campus Chemistry Department UG events
  • Coordinate and recruit undergraduates to be hired as Teaching Assistants
  • Generating graduation approval for all graduating seniors via the Student Information System (SIS)

Qualifications


Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
 
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
