Position Summary

This position is a Dental Assistant position designed to fill in or “float” throughout all of the clinical departments to provide dental assisting increased demand in each clinical department.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform dental assisting duties as they relate to each specific clinic area (pediatrics, endodontics, oral surgery, periodontics, orthodontics, faculty practice, etc…) This may include chairside assisting, exposing, processing and mounting radiographs, set up and break down of operatories, maintaining departmental records, following proper infection control procedures and other related duties. 
  • Complete necessary tasks while always maintaining current HIPAA, OSHA/infection control protocols. 
  • Assist in any capacity in other areas of the clinic including Radiology and Sterilization/Dispensary, as requested. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

  • Requirements

      

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, Associates degree preferred.
    • Current CPR Certification and X-ray Certification required or attainable within 30 days of hire. 
    • Experience: Minimum 6 months dental experience in fast paced environment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Prefer candidates with some knowledge and experience assisting with implant placement surgeries. 
    • Ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to be a productive member within the team and able to move freely throughout the clinics. 
    • Must be service oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks. This position requires an individual who is flexible and can work well in a variety of positions and environments. 
    • Must have strong verbal communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and independently. Must be professional cheerful courteous and pleasant.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Must be competent in dental terminology, instrumentation, four-handed dentistry, and have the ability to expose, process, and mount digital radiographs, as well as knowledge of current dental materials, instruments and equipment. Competent with computer and Electronic Health Record.


    Physical Requirements

    Must be able to move freely though out the various clinics, able to bend, stretch and sit for extended periods of time.


    Licenses/Certifications

    • Must have State of Michigan X-ray Certificate or comparable.
    • Must have current CPR certification, or attainable within 30 days.

    Salary/Pay Information

    Commensurate with experience


    Anticipated Schedule

    Weekly Schedule:   Monday through Friday   40 hours total/week, between the hours of   8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (or possible four 10 hour-days and no Fridays)
