Hospital location: WakeMed Women’s Pavilion and Birthplace in Cary, NC

We are seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife for Duke Women’s Health at our Holly Springs and Cary, NC clinic locations to work in collaboration with attending physicians and advanced practice providers, providing direct patient care services, collecting and documenting data, conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering and scheduling laboratory studies and professional consultations.

Primary clinic hours will be Monday through Friday with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients. Clinical and administrative sessions are generally 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM. There is a possibility of Saturday clinic hours as well as extended and alternative hours expected upon request/scheduling needs.

The Certified Nurse Midwife will share call coverage with the team at the WakeMed Women’s Pavilion and Birthplace in Cary, NC.

1+ years of experience as a Certified Midwife strongly preferred

JOB RESPONSIBILITES

Obstetric and Postpartum Care 

Will provide obstetric care from the new obstetric visit throughout pregnancy and including the postpartum visit as follows:

  • Complete the new obstetric exam with identification of any problems complicating pregnancy or pre-existent to pregnancy
  • Initiate plan of care/diagnostic testing/interpretation of labs/treatment plan based on individual patient medical/surgical history 
  • Provide patient education relating to pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care
  • Perform FHR assessment, NST interpretation, cervical exam for labor assessment

Gynecological Care

Will be responsible for management of gynecological patients for routine care and/or treatment of common gynecological problems including but not limited to:

  • All methods of family planning and counseling for reproductive life planning
  • Routine Well Woman Exams and Pap Smears
  • Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections
  • Treatment for symptoms of Menopause/perimenopause
  • Postmenopausal bleeding
  • Breast changes or masses
  • Pelvic/abdominal pain 
  • Dysfunctional uterine bleeding
  • Routine Postoperative follow up and problem visits

Experience

1+ years of experience as a Certified Midwife strongly preferred

Job Eligibility Requirements

 Education           

  • Certified Nurse Midwife: Graduate of an accredited MSN or DNP Nurse Midwifery Program

Certification        

  • National certification as a CNM.
