Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care in the clinic. Helps assist physicians with patient care procedures. Works in lab area running tests, and sending out specimens to UAB lab. May do venipuncture. Helps organize, maintain and file patient charts
Required: High school diploma or equivalent . Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performing simple medical and laboratory procedures and EKG's. Must: (1) enter 4,000 keystrokes per hour; (2) possess basic knowledge of PC applications, software, and database management.
Preferred: One-three years of clinical experience preferred with at least one year in pediatrics.
CCMA Certification from the National Healthcare Association (NHA). If certified by another accrediting agency, NHA certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
Current CPR certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
