Position Title Ceramics Lab Technician
Position Summary
The College of Architecture, Visual Arts, and Design at California Baptist University seeks qualified individuals for the role of part-time adjunct Ceramics Lab Technician. The Ceramics Laboratory Technician has expertise and technical knowledge of ceramics (kilns, ceramics studio equipment, glazing/firing of materials) and can fulfill duties with a high degree of responsibility, independence, initiative all while maintaining positive interactions with students.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training with experience in Ceramics; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must embrace the mission of California Baptist University, and evidence a clear understanding of, and commitment to, excellence in teaching through the integration of Christian faith. 
Teaching Responsibilities
1. Loading and firing a variety of kilns; mixes glaze materials, maintains safe storage and disposal and recycling practices.
2. Assist in coordinating laboratory firing schedule; helps resolve scheduling conflicts with instructors; communication between instructors and staff.
3. Assists as needed with preparation of assignments involving specialized equipment; ensures safety and security of facility.
4. Maintain ceramics lab facility and materials in conjunction with the Dean’s office.
5. Sets up laboratory for teaching demonstrations and exercises; distributes materials and arranges equipment.
6. Maintains and repairs laboratory equipment as required.
7. Ensures security of laboratory and equipment.
9. Handle or work with hazardous materials.
10. May train and direct the work of student employees.
