Position Summary
The Center for Legal & Court Technology (CLCT) at William & Mary Law School is a joint initiative of the Law School and the National Center for State Courts. CLCT’s fundamental mission is to improve the administration of justice through appropriate technology, traditionally emphasizing court and courtroom technology. CLCT has a long-lasting commitment to courts in the United States and elsewhere. In particular, it is responsible for the operation and management of the CLCT Court Affiliates Program. Launched in the 1990’s, this program assists member state, federal, native-American, and non-U.S. courts in using technology to improve the administration of justice.
The Administrator for the William & Mary Law School’s Center for Legal and Court Technology (CLCT) is the principal operational and administrative officer supporting the work of the Center and providing professional assistance to the Director of CLCT.
The CLCT Administrator will work under the supervision of the Director and will have responsibilities in these core areas:
  • Interface with and work with both the Law School Administration and Finance areas and Office of Sponsored Programs to track funds and grant reports and manage staff and related HR issues
  • Oversee all aspects of the Court Affiliates Program ensuring the development, maintenance, and expansion of the program by working closely and frequently with federal, state, and foreign judges, court administrators, and technologists
  • Supervise the Administrative Coordinator in all of that person’s duties, including administration of the Summer University and High School Law Related Education Program
  • Supervise a large group of student employees who provide significant departmental support
  • Serve as CLCT’s liaison with the Law School and other university offices, including but not limited to the Law School Administration, Accounting/Finance, and Advancement Office, and the University’s Office of Sponsored Programs

Conditions of Employment
  • There is the possibility of both in-person and remote work options.
  • This position is restricted to funding.
  • This position may require additional hours beyond the typical work week.
  • This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience managing office environments and office procedures
  • Demonstrated creativity, and leadership, and management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a wide variety of people and tasks, providing structure to new and developing programs and initiatives
  • Excellent language skills, both written and oral, and an ability to edit for content and copy correctness
  • Demonstrated ability and experience as a facilitator
  • Demonstrated ability to speak to groups and to interact with various levels of the organization. (Contacts typically include senior personnel including judges, court administrators, and government/elected officials).
  • Experience with using the Microsoft suite

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education, preferably in a law school setting
