The College of Medicine, Hoxworth Blood Center is recruiting a Cell Therapy Technologist 1 (Clinical Lab Scientist) in the Cellular Therapies Laboratory, to perform a moderate range of laboratory procedures.  This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities.


Essential Functions
  • Perform processing and cryopreservation of hematopoietic progenitor cell collections for bone marrow transplant patients.
  • Perform routine cell processing operations and innovative cell selection techniques for the production of novel cellular therapy products for clinical trial use.
  • Participate in laboratory operations that support clinical cell processing; maintaining supply inventories, perform equipment validations and quality control test procedures.
  • Write Standard Operating Procedures, (SOPs), generate reports, etc. 
  • Comply with cGTP and cGMP regulatory requirements.
  • Perform moderate complexity mathematical calculations.
  • Report test results to healthcare professionals and respond to questions appropriately.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical site personnel and other internal and external customers.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in a Life Science.


Required Experience
  • Understanding of the fundamental concepts of laboratory practices (for ex: sterile technique, universal precautions).
  • Possess essential computer skills, such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

Additional Qualifications Considered

Associate’s degree in a Life Science and three (3) years of work experience in a laboratory setting.
