This position performs general administrative duties including serving as a receptionist, opening and closing the office on time each day, answering incoming calls, retrieving and returning messages, answering basic program related questions, assisting with program paperwork, making copies, faxes, and other tasks as needed or assigned.
This position also serves as a liaison for maintenance staff and cleaners; quickly identifying and alerting the supervisor of facility needs; and also performing basic cleaning tasks as needed.

Compensation is paid at the rate of $19 per hour and includes 21 Vacation days, 14 Holidays, 3 Personal days and 12 Sick days annually. Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience relevant to the responsibilities of the position.

Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Program Responsibilities

Coordination/Operation – 95%

  • Open and close the office on time each day.

  • Serve as a receptionist; welcome on-site visitors, determine nature of visit and announce visitors to appropriate staff.

  • Interact with program participants; answer basic questions about CCE Albany and its programs.

  • Answer incoming calls. Forward calls and messages to appropriate staff.

  • Assist with all programs, program staff, program paperwork, data entry, filing, etc.

  • Help ensure confidentiality of all participant information.

  • Quickly report to the supervisor any issues or problems that arise.

  • Maintain the reception area in a clean, organized manner.

  • Make copies, assemble program materials and packets.

  • Receive, sort, and route mail.

  • Assist with tracking program supplies and inventory.

  • Maintain office equipment (copier, etc.) as needed.

  • Order, receive, and maintain office supplies.

  • Serve as a liaison for maintenance staff and cleaners; quickly identify and alert the supervisor of facility needs.

  • Clean up spills, restrooms, etc. as needed.

  • Assist with room set-ups and breakdowns as needed.

  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Professional Improvement – 5%

  • In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.

  • Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.

Health and Safety – Applied to all duties and functions

  • Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.

  • Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.

Position Details
