Job Description Summary

Bentley University is seeking a dynamic individual to join our campus ministry team as a Catholic Campus Minister. In this role, you will play a vital part in nurturing the spiritual well-being of our student body, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for Catholic students to deepen their faith and engage in meaningful religious experiences.
This is a less than half-time position (estimated 7-8 hours per week) from Mid-August to Mid-May.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with Bentley Catholic Association Executive Board: Collaborate closely with student leaders to understand their needs, facilitate discussions, and plan events that resonate with the Catholic student community.
  • Facilitate Bible Study Sessions: Assist the student Bible study sessions, creating a welcoming environment for students to explore and discuss the teachings of the Scriptures.
  • Promote Interfaith Engagement: Guide and challenge students to intentionally and respectfully interface with peers of other worldviewsâ”both organically through their networks and formally through the programs offered through the Spiritual Life Center.
  • Coordinate Masses: Take the lead in organizing regular Masses on campus, working closely with the chaplaincy team to ensure meaningful and accessible worship experiences for students.
  • Oversee RCIA Program: Develop and manage the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) program for students interested in becoming baptized or confirmed in the Catholic faith. Provide guidance, instruction, and support throughout their journey of faith formation.
  • Build Relationships with Other Catholic Campus Ministries: Cultivate connections with neighboring Catholic campus ministries and religious organizations to share resources, collaborate on events, and foster a sense of unity and support within the broader Catholic community.
  • Support and Mentor Students: Serve as a trusted and approachable resource for students seeking spiritual guidance, support, or simply a listening ear. Be present and accessible to engage in meaningful conversations about faith, life, and personal growth.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Catholic tradition and theology required.
  • High School Diploma / GED and 1 year of related experience required
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. (Bachelors in theology, pastoral ministry, religious studies, or a related field preferred).
  • Previous experience in campus ministry, community building, pastoral care, or religious education.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate effectively to students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate student schedules and events.
