Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking Catering Servers for Dining Services Catering Team.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Operates within Rutgers University Dining Services Catering team and ensures exemplary guest service through all forms of service including carving stations, bartending, running food during events, etc.
  • Replenishes products and supplies in compliance with event standards.
  • Ensures events are properly equipped and executed by transporting, pulling, setting up and breaking down, and returning equipment to designated storage areas in compliance with event standards and instructions.
  • Provides support to present a clean and safe work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Status
Hours Per Week 10-20 based on number of events
Daily Work Shift Rotating
Work Arrangement
This position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.
FLSA Nonexempt
Position Salary $22.00 per hour
Payroll Designation PeopleSoft
Terms of Appointment Temporary Staff Appointment - Hourly

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • For entry-level positions, no experience is required.

Certifications/Licenses
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and two years of driving experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in catering and/or fine dining environment strongly desired.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively respond to customer inquires or complaints.
  • Must have a friendly, service -oriented demeanor and the ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced; stressful environment.
Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push/pull food and beverage items, and catering equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have access to reliable transport, some travel is required to campus-wide events.
Special Conditions
Some evening and weekend hours are require; must be willing to work with a varying/flexible schedule based on catering business fluctuations.
