Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Catering Server for Dining Services Catering Team.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
• Ensures exemplary guest service through all forms of service to include carving stations, bartending, running food during events, etc.
• Replenishes product and supplies in compliance with event standards.
• Ensures events are properly equipped and executed by transporting, pulling, setting up and breaking down, and returning equipment to designated storage areas in compliance with event standards and instructions.
• Provides support to present a clean and safe work environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Status
Hours Per Week 10-20 based on number of events
Daily Work Shift Rotating
FLSA Nonexempt
Position Salary $14.00-18.00/hr
Payroll Designation PeopleSoft
Terms of Appointment Temporary Staff Appointment - Hourly

Minimum Education and Experience
  • For entry-level positions, no experience is required.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and two years driving experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in catering and/or fine dining environment strongly desired.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to effective respond to customer inquiries or complaints. 
  • Must have friendly, service-oriented demeanor and the ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended period of time. 
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push/pull food and beverage items, and catering equipment up to 50 lbs.
