Minimum Requirements:

B.S. in Biology by the start date of the job, prior experience working with Drosophila melanogaster, immunofluorescence and fluorescence microscopy, and have a record of laboratory managerial skills.

Position Description:

This is a temporary position for 20-30 hours per week. The employee will work as a research technician in the lab of Dr. Rafael Demarco (demarcolab.weebly.com) in the Biology Department on-site at the University of Louisville. Responsibilities may include research support and lab managing; data collection and analysis; technical equipment maintenance, repair, fabrication, or operation; computer operation; and other technical support functions.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with prior experience working with Drosophila melanogaster will be given priority, especially those already familiar with the genetic techniques involved (eg., GAL4/UAS system) as well as immunofluorescence. The ideal candidate will have experience working with an apotome-based structure illumination microscope, RT-qPCR, image quantification software (such as Image J) and data analysis software (i.e., Prism). Candidates should be detail-oriented with respect to following protocols and managing data. In addition, candidates should have managerial and organizational skills to work with lab setting, reagent ordering, task assignments or other demands.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
