Specimen Management Technician - Core Lab, Day Shift

The Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) at the University of Virginia seeks an Implementation Specialist (Research Specialist Intermediate) for a new partnership project with the Virginia Department of Education to design, pilot, and evaluate an early childhood mental health consultation (ECMHC) model. This project is a partnership between the University of Virginia, the Virginia Department of Education, and multiple community stakeholders. The individual hired into this full-time position will perform tasks related to managing this new ECMHC project.

Responsibilities : 

Project Coordination and Implementation

  • Collaborate with project faculty and staff to support the successful delivery of ECMH consultation through excellent project management, relationship building and management, and communications across internal and external partners 
  • Manage assignments and tasks and identify systemic inefficiencies
  • Coordinate with external project partners to support project implementation
  • Support the hiring, onboarding, and training of early childhood mental health consultants 
  • Plan agendas for meetings, keep meeting notes, and manage/track resulting task assignments for team members using systems such as Smartsheet

Research 

  • Track the progress of the project including implementation data collected as part of the pilot and associated evaluation
  • Manage recruitment, data collection, and data management activities 
  • Create systems for collecting, processing, and organizing incoming data 

Communication and Dissemination 

  • Act as a liaison between researchers, consultants, educators, and community stakeholders
  • Contribute to the planning and writing of reports and performance updates for funders and regulators
  • Support the maintenance of the project website, update content, archive publications, format dissemination products
  • Assist with outreach and dissemination activities which may include the creation of online communication (email newsletters, blogs, news articles), presentations (e.g., webinars) and reports and articles. This may include conducting literature reviews, reviewing drafts, finalizing references, formatting documents and other related activities. 

Qualifications: 
Required: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology or a related field 
  • One to two years of experience coordinating research, clinical, or administrative activities with demonstrated ability to manage self, team members, and stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to interact effectively with a diverse team of internal and external constituencies
  • Demonstrates expertise, experience, and commitment to diversity, equity, and access
  • Excellent executive function skills: organization, time management, shifting focus (multitasking; alternating focus on details and ‘the big picture’ as needed)
  • Coordinate multiple simultaneous tasks of varying complexity, with demonstrated accountability, and excellent attention to detail while implementing flexible problem-solving skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Ability to collaborate closely with a team in a deadline-driven environment 

Proficiency in use of technology: 

  • Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Videoconferencing, teaching, or webinar tools (e.g., Zoom, Canvas)
  • Virtual platforms or storage (e.g., Google Docs, Box, Trello)

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years of relevant experience 
  • One to two years of experience within the field of early childhood education 
  • Master’s degree preferred 
  • Prior experience with research-practice-policy partnerships in early childhood education
  • Prior experience with project management software such as Smartsheet
