Position Summary

Provides front-line cashiering and customer service to students, faculty and staff. Must be committed to serving a diverse college community. Actively participates in and contributes to continuous quality improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accepts and processes cash, check, and credit card transactions in person and over the phone.
  • Accepts and processes deposits from different departments of the college; verifies transaction coding; posts and reconciles accounting transactions.
  • Receipts all incoming funds from student payments and daily deposits from different offices of the college; inputs transactions accurately in the college’s integrated system.
  • Cashes personal checks for staff and students; processes petty cash requests.
  • Prepares daily cash reports and balances the cash drawer and BANNER entries; reconciles cash, check, and credit card receipts daily; investigates and resolves any out-of-balance problems.
  • Initiates stop-payment on checks by gathering all pertinent information from the student.
  • Analyzes and researches student accounts, identifies problems, and provides answers and guidance to the student.
  • Answers student questions regarding charges, fees, deadlines and financial aid disbursement dates and refunds; provides accurate information to students following appropriate guidelines and regulations applicable to student accounts; directs students to proper offices.
  • Assists students with online services, setting up payment plans, refunds, and payment profiles.
  • Enrolls students on payment plans.
  • Assists the Cashier’s Office with general office tasks.
  • Maintains confidentiality of college and student records.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Banner experience
  • Work Hours

  • 8 am to 5 pm Monday – Friday. Weekend and evening work may be required occasionally.
  • Physical Demands

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
  • The work is typically performed in an office.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year and six (6) months general office work, cashiering and/or customer service experience including Six (6) months cashiering experience.
  • Background check required.
