CASE MANAGER

The University of Alabama at Birmingham

 

Under general supervision, this position facilitates behavioral health screenings, risk/needs assessments, and case management to individuals that are involved in the justice system. This position will assist participants in navigation of the necessary therapeutic referrals and their involvement with the justice system, in order to increase a participants overall behavioral health and reduce the likelihood of justice recidivism.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, screens, assesses, and provides case management to drug-dependent offenders referred by the courts, jail, and others within the criminal justice system.
  • Maintains records, completes necessary forms, and composes correspondence as required.
  • Collects and analyzes data.
  • Prepares a variety of special and recurring analyses and reports.
  • Serves as a liaison with other organizations and provides information regarding various department services and programs.
  • Attends court and goes to the jails when necessary.
  • Acts in a caring and courteous manner towards all patients, guests, visitors, students and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics

  • Comparable work experience may substitute
  • Familiarity with data entry, criminal justice populations, mental health issues, and exposure to risk/needs assessments.

Hourly range :  $15.50-$25.20

 

Qualifications

 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Service, Social Sciences or a related field required.
  • Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
