Position Summary and Duties
The Case Manager reports directly to the Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students and is responsible for providing non-clinical, non-therapeutic support to students who are referred, or who self-present with a broad range of emotional and/or social-related health concerns.  These concerns tend to negatively impact a student’s college experience.  
This position works in the Student Support and Wellness Promotion department.  The Office of Student Support and Wellness Promotion uses a student-focused approach for addressing emotional and substance-related issues, and our interaction with students is rooted in the utmost respect for each student’s unique identity, perspective, and life experience. We encourage students to engage in self-reflection in order to remain healthy and promote wellness within themselves and among the University community.
Position responsibilities include:
-        Establishing rapport and regular contact with Students of Concern to determine the type of support and/or resources that may be beneficial to the students’ care and progress
-        Maintaining timely student records and notes in the MAXIENT database
 
-        Following up on concerns presented from the community and engaging with students to determine needed support networks
 
-        Responding to students in crisis in a clear, compassionate, supportive, respectful, and calm manner
 
-        Creating on and off-campus support networks that are designed to facilitate individualized, strategic, and comprehensive support planning for students.  These support networks generally include, but are not limited to:  off-campus therapy, off-campus psychiatry, Academic Advising, Student Life, Women’s Center, Student Health Services, ALANA Services (African, LatinX, Asian, Native American), the Counseling Center, and Disability Support Services.
 
-        Attending weekly CARE (Coordinated Action, Response, and Education) Team meetings. The CARE Team is a group of individuals from across the University who meet weekly to discuss student concerns and develop support plans and needed follow up.  
 
-        Assisting the Medical Leave of Absence (MLOA) Review Committee with possible questions that are related to Initial and After Care forms
 
-        Participating in the Collegetown Network of Case Managers, a community of case managers from 13 area colleges/universities who share common concerns, resources, and professional development opportunities related to supporting college students
 
-        Engaging in regular follow-up conversations and meetings with Students of Concern to determine progress and whether the students may need additional support 
-        Providing data to the AVP and Dean of Students, leadership team, and stakeholders, as requested
-        Understanding University and federal policies, including MLOA policy, parent/guardian notification, and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
PLEASE NOTE: This Case Manager position is NOT a clinical role, nor does the case manager engage in therapeutic intervention with students.
This is a temporary position for the Fall Semester 2021 with the possibility of being extended through Spring 2022.
Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree Required in Education, Counseling/Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
Three to Five Years of relevant experience, particularly in the area of crisis intervention.
Additional experience includes the ability to de-escalate crisis situations, work seamlessly with parents, guardians, faculty, administrators, and off-campus support networks, effective role as a CARE Team (or equivalent) network, and first-hand experience navigating sensitive and complex student concern situations that are often unexpected.
