Job Summary
Plans and executes operational and administrative activities related to connecting continuing education students, adults/young adults/teens, and alumni from specific programs (ex: Community Health Worker program alumni) with supplemental experiential learning opportunities and job placements to prepare for entry into the workforce, graduate studies, or law school. Delivers comprehensive career counseling services to their caseload as well as career counseling for prospective and incoming transfer students. Understands and assesses social determinants of health as it relates to workforce development. Interfaces with CSU colleges, academic departments, external community groups and organizations to develop, promote, and support experiential learning services and programs. Maintains extensive knowledge of jobseeker and university databases, test preparation, application processes, and changes in the job market. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business, Communication, Counseling, Education or related field and four (4) years of experience in pre-professional or academic advising, talent acquisition/workforce development or job placement environment.
  • Experience ensuring students are prepared for internship and co-op, experiential learning opportunities and for their first destination upon graduating from higher education.
  • Program planning/public speaking experience. Experience working effectively with students, faculty, and the regional business community and/or graduate and professional programs.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Valid driver’s license and ability to establish driver eligibility under the University’s Motor Vehicle Policy
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferably in Business, Communication, Counseling, Higher Education or related field and three (3) years of proven success in advising, Human Resources, recruiting, or educational background related higher education, health, medical, or law.
  • Working knowledge of the geographic area and regional industries.
  • Knowledge of current economic trends relating to employment in the Greater Cleveland area. Program planning experience. Experience advising or assisting college students.
  • Experience in career services at a collegiate level.

• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships and work as an individual contributor and an effective team player, in addition to being highly organized, self-directed and forward-thinking.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to analyze data and meet performance targets.
• Knowledge of current economic trends relating to employment in the Greater Cleveland area.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and have a “Customer Focus” attitude and delivery.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and career management technology.
