Job Description:

Summary

Career Services at Iowa State University seeks qualified applicants for a Data Analyst III to lead the management of career services technology platforms and career outcomes data. This person will serve as lead decision maker, in consultation with Career Services (CS) college units, on the evaluation, selection, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of career technology systems. CyHire, Iowa State University’s career services management system, will be the primary focus of the role; however, the role will also oversee educational tools such as Big Interview and GoinGlobal. CyHire ensures Iowa State University’s compliance with federal equal opportunity obligations and houses university-wide career outcomes data, internship and full-time job postings, career fair events, employer engagement opportunities, and more.

Iowa State University’s career services operate under a model of decentralized offices, managed and funded at the college level, connected by a shared recruiting technology system (CyHire). This position will officially report to the Director of Engineering Career Services but will regularly interface with all CS college units. As an inter-office leader, the role will train staff, develop policies, document and oversee the completion of standardized processes, and host regular user group meetings to ensure efficient and accurate technology operations across the university.

The Data Analyst III will also manage the day-to-day operation of the platforms by testing and communicating updates; overseeing student records in adherence to FERPA regulations; coordinating regular system maintenance; and interfacing with Information Technology Services (ITS), Registrar, and Senior Vice President & Provost (SVPP) offices to ensure our technologies are fully integrated with campus systems. Finally, the Data Analyst III will coordinate processes for the collection, manipulation, analysis, and reporting of students’ post-graduation career outcomes. Familiarity with data tools (e.g., Excel VBA/Macro, Tableau, formulas, pivot tables, charts) is critical to identify trends, “tell the story” of the data to multiple constituents (e.g., prospective students, current students, employers, faculty, staff, administrators), and help inform decisions at the college and university levels.

The successful candidate will possess excellent project management, organization, and communication skills.  The individual will also have an ability to multitask, work independently and as a team member, and apply a high level of attention to details. Finally, the candidate will possess the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with employers, students, faculty, and staff across units.

This is a 3-year fixed term position, with expectation for renewal based on availability of funding. This position is eligible for Iowa State University’s WorkFlex program and has the possibility to work remote up to 60% of the time during much of the year.
