The University of Utah College of Nursing (CON) seeks full-time (1.0 FTE) experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to serve as career-line faculty members with the ability to teach in the baccalaureate (BS) program.
Principal Functions and Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities within the prelicensure and/or RN-BS tracks may include teaching didactic content in classroom and/or online settings, supervising students in clinical settings, and facilitating simulation-based instruction. Teaching assignments will depend upon the candidate’s highest earned nursing degree, teaching experience, clinical background, certifications, and teaching needs within the College. Priority areas of clinical expertise include maternal/newborn nursing and acute care nursing. Faculty will be expected to contribute to program development, write or revise curriculum, serve on college committees, and participate in professional activities/service. Development of clinically focused scholarship is expected for retention and academic promotion.
Criteria: Candidates must be graduates of an accredited college or school of nursing and hold a current Utah RN or APRN license or be qualified for licensure in the State of Utah. Utah is a Nurse Licensure Compact state. Applicants must have at least a Master’s degree in either Nursing or a health-related field. Applicants with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree or enrollment in a PhD or DNP program will also be considered. Teaching experience, including teaching in classroom, clinical, and simulation settings, is preferred. Relevant health care experience, evidence of established clinical expertise, and strong organizational and communication skills are required. Clinical expertise in maternal/newborn or acute care nursing are desired. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with patients and other members of the health care and academic team are essential. Applicants must be willing to reside in the state of Utah, and work on-site at the College of Nursing and/or at health care facilities in the Salt Lake Valley.
