Description of Work Unit
The Career Center is part of the Division of Student Affairs with strong and broad-reaching relationships and responsibilities throughout campus, including the academic colleges. Divided into three units (Career Education; Employer Relations; and Operations and Assessment), the Career Center not only provides career-related-advising and -services to students, it fills many additional functions critical to the success of the university and students, including, but not limited to, campus-wide career education integration and consulting, campus-wide career fair coordination and job/internship postings, employer relations, institutional career outcome reporting, and student employee development leadership. The Career Center is responsible to a variety of internal and external stakeholders and leverages those relationships to help students investigate the many available career opportunities with special consideration for finding paths that meet their skills, goals, values, and unique identities. The College of Health and Human Sciences is comprised of 8 academic units: the Departments of Construction Management, Design and Merchandising, Food Science and Human Nutrition, Health and Exercise Science, Human Development and Family Studies, Occupational Therapy, and the Schools of Education and Social Work. Total undergraduate and graduate enrollment is over 5,000 students, with 125 tenure track and 60 full-time non-tenure-track faculty members. Several of the College’s academic programs are nationally recognized or ranked. The College includes 2 of the university’s largest majors and 3 of the university’s best majors for job placement. The College of Health and Human Sciences houses 20 different Institutes, Centers, Special Units, and Extension offices, designed to provide a broad range of research and outreach activities that support social, economic, and community development in Colorado, the nation, and the world.
Position Summary
The Career Education Manager is a full-time, year-round position that serves as the Career Center’s lead for career education in the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS). The Career Education Manager designs, coordinates, and delivers career curriculum to: educate all CSU students (with a focus on CHHS students) about career paths; engage them in experiential learning opportunities and career planning; prepare them for their job search; and connect them with potential employers. The Career Education Manager establishes and maintains successful relationships with colleagues and employers to lead people toward a common vision of supporting student career readiness, connects multiple offices and departments together to accomplish program goals, maintains relevant industry knowledge, and operates within a framework of building structures and systems to support students in reaching career readiness. This position functions as a key member of the university-wide Career Center and the CHHS Dean’s Office. The role dually reports to the Career Education Unit of the Career Center, and the Dean’s office in the College of Health and Human Sciences.
Required Job Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree
· Minimum of two years of full-time, relevant experience in career education, career services, career counseling, higher education, health/human sciences, or related fields.
· Personal and professional commitment to equity and inclusion as demonstrated by persistent effort, active planning, allocation of resources, and/or accountability for diversity outcomes.
· Experience managing large-scale programs (one year of professional experience or two years of graduate assistantship experience).
Preferred Job Qualifications
· Master’s Degree
· Experience in visioning, planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating innovative career programs
· Experience working with individuals with diverse identities
· Demonstrated experience applying DEI work to career advising
· Two years of experience providing career-related coaching/advising

Duty/Responsibility
· Develop a strategic plan in line with the Career Center strategic plan, and the college strategic plan, that focuses on students in the College of Health and Human Sciences
· Manage efforts to deliver inclusive career services to undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Health and Human Sciences in order to build a culture of career readiness in the College
· Design and lead innovative career programming for CHHS students by applying knowledge of diverse identities, generational traits, student interest areas, and unique CHHS student needs related to career education
· Create and deliver effective workshops, presentations, and programming on career-related topics
· Maintain knowledge of how diverse identities and the systems in which they exist impact career exploration and development, particularly in natural resources fields
· Gather CHHS first destination data for the CSU Graduation Survey
· Contribute to CHHS events and programs such as Ram Welcome, Ram Orientation, Admissions/recruiting events, and Commencement ceremonies as needed
· Integrate career readiness into CHHS student orgs, including the Deans Leadership Council and other CHHS-specific student clubs and organizations
· Regularly educate the full Career Center team (40+ student and professional staff) on best practices for serving CHHS students

· Establish effective communication and referral network between the Career Center and CHHS faculty, deans, academic advisors, and internship coordinators
· Educate and consult with CHHS faculty and staff regarding career development, first destination data, experiential learning, economic and industry trends, and job search preparation, allowing faculty and staff to actively participate in the career education of CHHS students
· Create and expand partnerships with alumni, development staff, and faculty to grow the CHHS alumni network and increase opportunities for current students to interact with alumni around college-to-career topics
· Maintain solid working knowledge of employer and industry trends through collaborative work with the Career Center’s Employer Relations Team; participate in employer visits, career fairs, and industry tours

· Provide one-on-one career education to CSU students in drop-in and appointment-based formats on the following topics: career exploration, job and internship search skills (networking, resume/cover letter, interviewing, job offer negotiation), and the graduate school application process
· Create and deliver presentations and workshops on career-related topics ranging from self-assessment to job offer negotiation, incorporating identity-related reflection and deconstructing historical notions of professionalism
· Provide focused career education for diverse populations including first-generation students and students from marginalized and minoritized backgrounds

· Mine and evaluate web-based information and vendor products, making recommendations on career-related resources of value to CHHS students

· Create and maintain visually appealing and informative resources for CHHS students, including first destination survey updates for faculty and students, CHHS Major-to-Career tools, etc.
· Create webinars, interactive online lessons, and other unique online learning opportunities to provide CSU students with anytime access to career-related resources
