Summary of Job Duties:

The Career Coach reports to the Dean of Enrollment Management and works in a team environment with the counselor and principal of the school district the position serves. The position will work with the Blevins School District and duties will include providing early outreach to low-income students and their parents with information about the importance of postsecondary education, as well as accurate information on how to prepare, apply, and pay for it; providing interest inventories and skills assessments to assist individuals in making informed career decisions; facilitating the development of individual career plans and portfolios; assisting students with enrolling in education or training programs; providing information on careers, career pathways, and educational requirements; and connecting high school students to early college programs, Advanced Placement classes, and academic and career and technical education (CTE) and concurrent-credit enrollment.
The successful candidate will spend the majority of her/his time at the Blevins High School campus during the academic year but will also attend regular meetings and complete some assignments on the UA Hope campus. The position will require some evening hours and travel between the college campus and school district. The position is provisional and grant funded. The grant that funds this position is awarded on an annual basis.
Meeting performance goals determined by Arkansas Career and Technical Education (CTE) are instrumental in maintaining grant approval each year. The following chart indicates the goals set for the 2024-2025 academic year. Targets have been set based on the overall state program’s achievement and reasonable expectations. Data collected for AY 2024 will be used to evaluate program’s achievement of target outcomes. If the program’s outcomes fall below the target, the program will be required to participate in tiered-support to address deficit areas. If the program’s outcomes fall more than 10% below target, the guarantee may lose eligibility for future funding.
