Hiring Salary: $3,579.77 – $4,248.93/Monthly

 

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the general direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor the CARE Navigator works with the Behavioral Intervention Team (CARE Team) and serves as an institutional touchpoint for the needs of students and residents in need of support, guidance, or other intervention and connects them with the resources to be successful. This position provides strength-based inclusive, holistic support, consultation, and education to members of the University community to promote individual students’ and residents’ well-being and success and encourages wellness and personal safety. This position assists in coordinating prevention, intervention, and support efforts across campus and in identifying and connecting with community systems to assist at-risk students and students facing crises, life traumas, and other barriers that impede success.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Facilitates case management for various student emergencies including financial concerns, hospitalizations, and general mental health.
  • Provides comprehensive referral services to students for on-campus and community services.
  • Works 1:1 with students through walk-in appointments and incoming calls.
  • Assists in the support of student victims and survivors of crimes, abuse, theft, assaults, or other types of safety concerns.
  • Manages and updates case records and documentation.
  • Maintains documentation via Maxient software in accordance with the unit standards and ethical guidelines.
  • Participates in weekly group and individual staff meetings and other staff development activities.
  • Works collaboratively with the campus through the Behavioral Intervention Team (CARE Team) and other campus entities to promote campus-wide safety.
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Vice Chancellor and/or Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) to track and record measures of success (e.g., retention, progression, graduation rates).
  • Assists with department and student outreach partnerships within the University.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

    EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Educational Psychology, or a closely related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

     EXPERIENCE: Experience in student mental health and presenting issues. (Training and experience with mental health systems and community resources in a college or university counseling center is preferred).

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a broad range of people including faculty, staff, health care professionals, and the public.
    • Skilled in providing consultation and training to faculty, administrators, and other service personnel regarding student and trainee issues.
    • Ability to maintain current, accurate records of case management sessions; compile statistical data and prepare reports to program operation, activities, and progress.
    • Ability to present workshops to targeted groups.
    • Skills in critical thinking to anticipate potential problems or issues.
    • Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment and as a team member to support the office and University mission and goals.
    • Skilled in working with those from traditionally under-represented groups including residents of different race and ethnicities, LGBTQ+ identifying, international, disabilities, etc.
    • Ability to advocate individually and systematically.

     

    WORK SCHEDULE :  This position may be required to work frequent evenings and occasional weekends.
