Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Ambulatory Chief, guided by the policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Care Center, and in collaboration with the physicians and other clinical staff, the Clinical Nurse Supervisor is responsible for providing safe, efficient nursing care to patients in the Ambulatory Cardiology practice. This includes General Cardiology, Subspecialty Cardiology, and Cardiology Contact Center Nursing Teams.
Triages patients and responds appropriately according to protocol and nursing assessment. The Clinical Nurse Supervisor utilizes the nursing process (Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation) to provide safe and therapeutic clinical care in the cardiology patient population. The Clinical Nurse Supervisor also provides clinical support to providers and participates as part of the health care team to assure coordination and continuity of patient care. The Clinical Nurse Supervisor is responsible for triage on behalf of the practice both in person and through telephone and electronic communication. S/he participates in the development and implementation of educational programs and materials for patients and their family members. S/he delivers direct patient care to a variety of patient populations. All components of nursing care will be individualized to meet the patient's physiological and psychosocial development. The Clinical Nurse Supervisor will play a critical role in the patient experience including optimizing clinic flow, providing in and outreach to patients and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient centered environment. S/he is responsible for daily clinical operations and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff. The Clinical Nurse Supervisor consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor, helps establish and maintain the highest service standards for the practice and complies with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards. Will provide clinical expertise for Cardiology patients and the clinics. Will exercise leadership for the interdisciplinary care team and support services to deliver high quality, safe, effective and efficient family centered care. Provides nursing care to patients. Onboard, trains, and supervises nurses within the clinics and the Cardiology Contact Center Clinical Call team. Functions as a team leader to provide cardiology services to chronically ill heart patients and their families.
This employee will utilize computer skills in Apex and other UCSF computerized programs. This individual supports the standards of the policies and procedures of the practice, and is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of pharmacology and competency in modes of administration, and complies with all Ambulatory Services and Medical Center policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and administrative and clinical practice. Embraces and consistently role models the UCSF concepts of values: PRIDE (Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Excellence and AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thanks) throughout all interactions with patients, family members, and other employees, both in person and on the phone. The Clinical Nurse Supervisor will be primarily located at the Mission Bay Cardiology Practice, however, s/he must have flexibility to cover multiple UCSF Health System Cardiology Clinic sites.
