Department Summary

The Erb Memorial Union (EMU) is a department of the Division of Student Life. The EMU is a multifaceted auxiliary service that employs over 80 professional staff and 200 student staff and serves over 15 thousand daily users during the academic year. The EMU welcomes students, faculty, staff, the community, and visitors to campus, and its mission is to provide learning experiences and opportunities for personal growth in an open, inclusive, and resource-rich community where students and staff collaborate to inspire and sustain extraordinary programs and services that promote diversity and social interaction. The EMU is student-centered and is operated in collaboration with a student Board, who is actively involved in determining the character and scope of the department and approve the budget recommendations of all EMU services and programs.


Position Summary

This position manages, supervises, and coordinates the daily activities of the UO ID Card Office. This position requires strong customer service, managerial, supervision, financial, data management, and technical skills.

This position is responsible for the formulation and documentation of the campus ID card issuance process in accordance with University Registrar and Identity Management policies and procedures. This position also manages the University’s Campus Cash program and is charged with developing and expanding revenue through the Campus Cash program, including contracting with a variety of off-campus entities.

The ID Card Services Manager oversees operations of the ID Card computer system, including software and hardware troubleshooting, and manages, facilitates, and coordinates technical requests relating to software and hardware with Student Life Information Technology Department as appropriate. The role will be responsible for data integrity and maintenance of FERPA-required privacy for student records.

The ID Card Office relies on student employee support. An essential element of this position is the hiring, training, and supervision of student staff.

Responsibilities also include the generation of several financial and account maintenance reports. Responsible for the preparation, management, and monitoring of the annual budget with full Level 1 delegated expenditure authority. Responsible for purchasing, including research and contracting.

This position reports to the Assistant Director, Retail and Student Services, and supervises classified and student staff within the Card Office. Depending on unit needs, this position may be required to work occasional weekend or evening hours. Remote work is available as the unit needs allow.


Minimum Requirements

• Associate's degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience - OR - two years’ professional experience operating a Card Office or similar entity.
• Two years of experience supervising professional or paraprofessional staff.
• Experience in sales, marketing, or promotions.
• Two years of experience providing customer services to a wide variety of individuals including those with diverse backgrounds.
• One year of experience managing a budget.


Professional Competencies

• Ability to work independently and use good judgment in prioritizing tasks, along with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret laws, rules, policies, and procedures and apply them to non-routine situations.
• Excellent communication skills, typically utilized in writing or presentation.
• Comfort with and proficiency using a variety of technology applications including databases, spreadsheets, and reports.


Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Experience generating revenue.
• Experience mentoring students and providing leadership/skill development.
• Commitment to confidentiality and knowledge of FERPA regulations.
• Administrative or management experience.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of the campus card industry, including campus card transaction systems, access control systems, technologies in cardstocks and system equipment, and system integrations.
