Responsibilities

The University of California, a national leader in sustainability, has pledged to become carbon neutral by 2025, becoming the first major university to accomplish this achievement.

To help UC reach this ambitious goal, UCLA Health will select two UC Presidential Carbon Neutrality Fellows.

Both fellows will work under the Sustainability Manager for UCLA Health. These fellows will interact together with the UCLA campus CNI fellows throughout the fellowship. Campus fellows will work under the office of UCLA Sustainability. This is the first year CNI fellows have been approved for the health systems. If you are majoring in the health sciences or have an interest in healthcare operations and sustainability please specify on the application.

In addition to the focus on UCLA, each fellow will participate in a UC system-wide discussion and communication process in collaboration with student representatives on the UC Global Climate Leadership Council (GCLC). Fellows will regularly contribute to the GCLC Student Blog and other student engagement communication platforms. Fellows will also be expected to present at the California Higher Education Sustainability Conference next summer.
